There are so many great things to promote as an Etsy affiliate!Although The Work at Home Wife does not deal in handmade items, I have always longed for a referral program from Etsy. There are so many digital sellers out there that there are tons of things I can promote. For starters, I purchase my media kit templates, logos, marketing materials, and more to promote my blog and virtual assistant business from the site.

In years past, there was no Etsy affiliate program. I’m happy to report, that has changed. And here’s how you can join.

Where is the Etsy Affiliate Program hosted?

The Etsy program is part of a network called Affiliate Window. The good news is that there are several other merchants that you can apply to and promote to increase your earnings

What is the program description?

The standard commission rate is 4%. It’s not a whole lot compared to some programs, but people love Etsy. And they have a lot to promote as we discussed earlier. They not only carry handmade and vintage items, but also digital products like blog themes and resume templates.

Etsy cookies are good for 30 days.

Affiliate Window is a network that allows you to set your own payment thresholds. You can choose a minimum amount between $20 and $100 They pay twice per month by direct deposit or check (international payments are also available).

There are several ways you can monetize your site once approved:

  • Text link
  • banner
  • Link Builder (so you can link to specific products or pages)
  • Data Feed (coming soon)
  • Convert-A-Link – This is a piece of script on your site that will automatically convert your links for you, like VigLink.

How do I sign up?

You must first apply in the affiliate window. Once accepted you will apply for the Etsy Affiliate Program. Etsy’s acceptance rate seems to be around 99%, so don’t be afraid to apply.

To be accepted into the affiliate window, you need to make a $5 deposit. There are still a few programs around that do this, and trust me when I say I’ve seen worse. That $5 will only be taken from your account if you are accepted by Affiliate Window and then immediately credited to your commission account which will be paid out with your first payment. I asked, and it’s only waived when a merchant personally invites you to their program. The chances of that happening with Etsy are slim.

For our international readers, Canadian, UK, French, German, Scandinavian (Sweden) and Australian Etsy affiliate programs are also available here.

To begin the process of becoming an Etsy affiliate, apply in the affiliate window.
