Data entry jobs from home

1. CAS Information System

CAS Information System Employs people for data verification and data entry. This position is very location-based (currently you must live in or near St. Louis, MO). If the position is available, you’ll see it listed as “Offsite Invoice Payment Specialist.” You will need to undergo onsite training for a few weeks before working from home. their BBB rating is A+.

You can also read our Cass Information Systems review to learn more about the location.

Ibotta There are occasional data entry positions open, but only for Colorado residents. So if you live in Colorado, be sure to keep tabs on their “Jobs” page to see if they’re hiring for data entry. Pays $10 per hour and opening hours are part-time. Ibotta has a B rating at BBB.

We always list it in our weekly work at home email updates when we see they’re hiring, so you can subscribe if you don’t have a better chance of catching it when it opens.

3. Telus International

Telus International Pays very little. Really good for extra money here and there. This company offers part-time online data entry jobs, as there is usually not enough work to do this full-time. They offer data enrichment, data annotation, online rating and other data entry related tasks.

4. Dion Data

Dion Data A legitimate company that has been around for years. Unfortunately I don’t think they actively hire often, but if there is a way to apply on the page, I would recommend sending your application. They haven’t had an opening in quite a while, but I’ve seen it open for years so don’t dismiss it completely.

You may want to read our Dion Data review to learn more about working for this company.

5. Xerox

9. SigTrack

Sigtrack A site that often accepts data entry keys to provide voter registration data.

Online Data Entry Jobs – My Favorite Job Board to Find!

Sometimes you’ll be able to find data entry opportunities when you search the big job boards. It’s a good idea to check these daily as the lists are constantly changing

1. Indeed

Read every description carefully to check if the opportunities you find are really work from home jobs – many aren’t. Actually it’s better to weed out the scams, but you can still find something so be careful.

You can actually see the data entry work here.

2. Flex Jobs

There is a fee to access job postings on this site, but it’s one of my favorites to search because they screen for scams before posting (not all job boards claim this).

They are also a Section dedicated to data entry. This is probably your best bet for finding legitimate work at home data entry jobs online. I’ve paid the fee for months now and find little gems when I search there.

It’s $14.95 to access their list, but you can use promo codes AFFILPROMO Get up to 30 percent off your membership fee. Go here to sign up for FlexJobs.

3. Craigslist/Adhuntr

I use a site called Adhuntr to search all of Craigslist. Unfortunately Craigslist has far more scams than legitimate online data entry jobs, so be careful what you apply for.

What data entry is involved

The Duties of Data Entry Clerk It will vary a bit depending on who you are working for, but generally you are transferring data from one source to another

Typically, you’ll look at data — either on paper or on a computer screen — and type it into a form or spreadsheet

While data entry jobs from home may sound fun and easy, it can actually become extremely boring and monotonous. Not everyone is cut out for it.

Data entry income potential

This line of work is not known to pay well as far as work at home is concerned. I earn minimum wage or less for most home data entry jobs. If you work as an independent contractor, they can legally do this, and in most cases you will.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Most data entry keyers earn around $16 per hour. However, I believe this data has more to do with what this job pays for when you’re doing it onsite. As mentioned above, most of the data entry jobs I’ve found that work at home don’t pay much at all.

Skills required for data entry

Most companies with data entry work at home jobs won’t hire you without testing your skills first, so be prepared to test.

You need to be not only a fast typist but also an accurate typist. Even if you’re not fast or accurate with your typing, these are skills you can work on.

key There is a good online tool you can use for typing practice so you can get faster.

equipment required

Home data entry jobs usually don’t require equipment you don’t already have. At a minimum, you need an up-to-date computer with high-speed Internet.

Some – but not all – companies will either require or recommend that you use dual monitors. If you’re wondering why in the world you need something like a dual monitor for data entry, it’s because it can greatly simplify the transfer of information from one document to another.

If you have two monitors side by side that you can watch, you don’t have to click back and forth between different open tabs on your computer.

This is a major time saver. And since data entry work is usually paid per piece, you’ll want tools that can go as fast as you can.

Avoiding data entry scams

This is a common red flag Work at home scam sites. Keep an eye out for them on any site you use to search for online data entry jobs, but especially watch out for them on Craigslist!

Be alert if you see any of the following:

Beware of claims that you will make a lot of money.

This is not typical for data entry. I’m a little skeptical of any data entry listing promising more than $10 an hour. If the ad says you’ll make hundreds or thousands per week, don’t even look at it.

What skills are required? It is not realistic.

Scammers usually don’t list what skills you need because they want to make sure a lot of people will try to apply.

If there are skills listed, you’ll notice that they’re usually very basic skills that anyone can have. An example would be something like being able to type 25-35 wpm – most people can do that.

Any type of application fee should be a major red flag.

There are instances where a fee for work at home is a legitimate thing, but it’s rare. The jobs listed on this page are free data entry jobs.

Anything that isn’t free is probably a scam. Avoid any listings that ask you to pay for training, memberships, software, etc.

Any company name or contact information on any site is not suspicious.

If you can’t research the company posting the ad, stay away to be safe.

Poorly designed or brand new websites are also suspect.

Scammers often throw together fake websites to fool people, and they usually don’t take the time to make sure they’re well-designed.

You can visit and see how a website has been created recently whois.net and enter the website address. A website that has just been thrown together and created a few days or weeks ago is a red flag for a work at home scam.

A request to deposit a check for business supplies on your own account is tantamount to a scam.

It may sound strange, but it is widespread. Work at home scammers will “hire” you, usually through a chat session on Google Hangouts or Skype, and then tell you that before you can start working, you must accept a check from them for your business supplies.

They will ask you to deposit the whole thing and then give them back a portion of what they sent you. The check will be fraudulent and you will be responsible for the money wired. Cheaters will be gone long ago! Here is more information about this scam.

If you think you’ve already fallen victim to a home data entry scam, you can and should Report with the FTC here.

Good luck in whatever you choose to pursue!
