What was your dream career as a child?
oceanographer
Describe the moment you decided to become an entrepreneur.
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit! When I was 21 I started my own business where I played the harp for weddings and events — I did it as a side gig for 20 years! I started my own company — ABA SPEECH — when I had an idea for a physical speech therapy product called Action Builder Cards. I started my business six years ago.
What drives you to work?
My goal is to help all autistic people have a way to interact with the world!
What is the most exciting thing you are doing in your business right now?
I’m working with one of my distributors to get them to purchase two of our products — The Action Builder Cards and the Double Up Game. We will sell this part of our business and exit.
What does entrepreneurship mean to you?
The freedom to put my family first, the freedom to make my own schedule, to focus on work important to my overall mission at ABA Speech.

What would you say to encourage non-community entrepreneurs to join one?
Don’t go alone!
If you were to start a brand new online business from scratch today, what would it be?
I will start a company focused on helping speech therapists and other helping professionals find alternative work settings (sales, insurance review, etc.).
If you had your start current Starting over today in business again, would you do one thing differently?
I will work with a business strategist (that’s a thing) to help me properly position myself and my business in the market. I’m struggling with this. I’ve had my business for six years and this was my first year just doing my business as my main job and it felt like a struggle. Even though I’ve boosted it to six figures (which I’m proud of) the way it’s scaling is at a snail’s pace. I’m actually thinking of transitioning back into full-time work with ABA Speech as my side gig — solo!
If you were given $1 million today, with no strings attached, what would you do with it?
Save it for retirement!
