Today, I decided to dig a little deeper into what medical writers do, what they earn, what it takes to become one, who’s hiring medical writers, where to get training, and other details that might interest you.

Who Hires Work From Home Medical Scribes?

There are several companies that have remote medical script jobs open on a regular basis. I have listed a few of them with some general information about their requirements and pay if they provide those details.

Here are a few companies to check out:

1 – AcQuity solution

This company requires at least six months of past experience as a medical writer before considering you for employment. They promise a “competitive” wage and benefits. You must already have a college degree or at least be enrolled in college as a junior. AcQuity also offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision coverage, short-term and long-term disability, a 401K savings plan and paid-time-off.

2 – Proscribe

This company requires a minimum of a high school diploma. College sophomore status or higher is preferred. They also prefer if you are on a pre-health career track with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy. The opening seems to be limited to Texas. There are some scribe openings on the job page that say “virtual,” although the descriptions seem identical to non-virtual scribe jobs.

3 – Scribkick

According to their job description, “As a scribe, you will accompany your assigned physician to patient visits in person or virtually. When your doctor examines and talks to a patient, you chart directly in the electronic medical record (EMR) in real time. You ensure accurate and timely documentation of medical charts.”

As far as education, they need a bachelor’s degree, or be a junior or senior working toward a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study. They also prefer, but do not require, some past experience in healthcare or science.

4 – Robin Healthcare

According to the job description at Robin Healthcare, you will document patient encounters, navigate electronic medical records, and provide feedback to improve note-taking systems.

You will be able to work 35 to 40 hours per week full-time. Medical scribe experience, healthcare experience, and experience working with EMR’s (Electronic Medical Records) is preferred but not required.

5 – Prediction health

Medical scribe positions aren’t always posted at Prediction Health, but you’ll occasionally see them if you keep tabs on their jobs page.

As per the old job posting, you will be, “Responsible for completing medical provider documentation including history, assessment and plan and other pertinent aspects of notes on current illness.”

A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. You must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. They are also looking for candidates with past experience in medical scribing, transcription or related fields.
