5 Good Reasons You Should Make and Sell Printables Online

I’ve always been fascinated by making and selling printables as a potential “side gig” or even full-time at-home business! Today I want to share with you some of the best reasons to consider it.

While I’ve made a handful of printables (I sell these gumroad (where my e-books are also listed), it’s not something I’ve really had time to pursue as much as I’d like. But I love this idea as a small business, and in this blog post, I’ll tell you why!

If you’ve got the time and skills, this could be right up your alley. And it doesn’t have to be a side gig. There are many people who have full-time home businesses (some earning six figures) based on making and selling printables.

5 Good Reasons to Create and Sell Printables Online

1 – You can sell printables over and over

Printables are really a “once and done” thing. You make it once and then you sell it over and over again. So in that way it is a true passive income.

If you take the time to create a bunch of printables and sell them well, you’ll make less work in the future.

Prints also typically don’t require as much updating as e-books or e-courses.

2 – There is a large market for printables

If you think most people prefer to do all their list making, record keeping and organizing online now without hard copies, think again.

I will admit that I fall into the former category. I’m not a person who likes to write things down and I prefer to do everything online or through apps when possible.

But there are many people who simply do not believe that their information, lists and other data are safe online and really need that hard copy! Many people are still this way.

So as long as there are people who want to print something that they can write/fill in the blanks on and then hang on their fridge, store in a folder, keep in their car, etc., there are people who will want to buy your printables.

3 – Printables are not hard to make

You don’t need a degree in graphic design to make a printable.

Anyone who is able to learn how to use drag-and-drop, template-filled image design sites, typically built specifically for people without graphic design skills (think Canva, which I love, or PicMonkey) can be printable!

I’ll admit that you have to be pretty tech-savvy to figure out how to use the tools on these sites, but it’s easier than something like Photoshop.

4 – There are plenty of places to sell printables online

The most obvious site you can use to sell printables is Etsy. But you don’t have to stop there. You can sell them on Gumroad (like me), set up a Shopify store for them, or sell directly from a website you’ve built yourself.

As a newbie, you would be wise to start listing on Etsy or similar marketplaces as they help drive traffic to your offerings.

Some people even advertise their printables for sale on Facebook groups and other social media sites where it is allowed!

5 – Printables are a great outlet for your creativity

If you love to be creative and come up with ideas outside the box, making printables will be a great way for you to do so.

There are some obvious types of printables that most people will make — grocery list printables, holiday packing lists, calendars, schedules — but if you think about some of the other types of printables that people might like that not everyone else likes. doing

In conclusion

Despite the reasons I’ve given you, you may still decide that creating and selling printables online isn’t the business venture or side-gig for you.

Of course everything has its drawbacks, and selling printables is no exception. There is a learning curve and it is not an overnight success for most people.

But if you think it might be for you and you want to read a little more about making money with printables, you can get a free e-book from Julie and Cody of Gold City Ventures. They are in the business of helping other people launch their Etsy printable business!

Julie and Cody wrote a free e-book that explains how to capitalize on seasonal trends to get more sales with your printables.

The book also lists their best selling products by month to help you know what to put in there and when!

Good luck in whatever you choose to pursue!
