If the warm summer air keeps you busy with various activities with the kids, your online business may be a bit neglected. However, this does not affect it. There are an array of promotional strategies you may not have thought of to keep your home business thriving. Most of these strategies allow you to enjoy your kids during the summer months and still make money from home.

Below I have 8 tips to help keep cash flowing throughout the summer months. These are as follows and in no particular order:

Plan Ahead – Before your kids come home for their summer vacation, you need to take some precautions. If you are involved in article marketing; You need to write “search engine friendly” article content for your niche ready for summer. Start doing this two to three months before summer break. That way you’ll be ready with good content that will keep your target market swooning over your site.

Also, most blogs have a great feature that allows you to pre-schedule your posts and different types of content. You can schedule your social network content as well. For example, you can easily set up your tweets for free with Hootsuite.com They have free and paid options. And the program is really a no-brainer.

New Technology Gadgets- Along with evolving, new technologies, there are many convenient, on-the-go Internet gadgets that will benefit your business. What’s not to love with all the new iPhones, tablets, iPads, laptops and more? Invest in them and use them to your advantage. It’s worth the investment! You can take these handy gadgets with you wherever your kids take you. Use them to stay on track with your business.

Multiple Streams of Income- Engage in paid to read or paid survey sites. Given the opportunity this does not take time at all. You can do them in the evening or while watching your kids play in the park. Start these passive income opportunities early in the year, that way they’ll bring you extra cash (not just during the summer months), but any slow times in your business.

Offline Advertising – During the summer months, you’ll be sure to be going places with the kids; Such as parks, libraries, church functions and more. What a perfect time to pitch your business. Word of mouth is by far the most effective offline advertising method. You can be spontaneous with it and mention it and talk about it whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Business cards and flyers are also ideal for offline promotion. Being a busy work at home mom, you will tend to be surrounded by other moms, as well as friends. And no doubt some of them will be unemployed and searching for ways to earn money by themselves at home. Be confident and fully prepared to present your business to others.

Free Online Courses – Use the summer months to polish your marketing skills with free online courses. There are many free ones to choose from on the net A practical way to do this is to download them to your Kindle, iPad or iPhone and read them in the library while your children are reading their favorite subjects. Or maybe you’re doing it in the evening or early morning when your kids are still sleeping. You can never be too marketing savvy! And it will greatly benefit your business.

Website updating or revamping- Summer would be the perfect time to do some serious website updating or a complete redesign. This is ideal if your home business is particularly slow during the spring and summer. It will be time to dedicate some festive web changes to you. You can make some “search engine friendly” updates. When you’re back in full force in September, you’ll have a new look and Google will treat you better.

Content Mills – I know some of us don’t like the thought of writing for content mills. However, they help line your wallet when money is tight and time is slow. TextBroker and Demand Studio are both excellent choices, as well as many others. Most of these sites take no time to write. At least, it’s something worth checking into.

Outsourcing- If you’re really strapped, outsourcing can be an effective way to keep your head above water while the kids are on summer vacation. You can hire for article writing, email work, website maintenance, help with newsletters; Or whatever help you may need. It will be ideal when you are vacationing with family.

One last thought: Your top priority as a mother must be your children. Think ahead and make some special plans to keep your home business running and your little ones enjoying their young years. They deserve a nice break from school!
