So you want to work from home writing? Good luck to you. If you have grammar and research skills, there are plenty of work from home jobs available in this industry. Today I’ve rounded up freelance writing jobs that pay a decent wage ($10+ per word) and are known to often hire remote workers.
About.com A popular website that offers expert advice on every topic imaginable. They aren’t very open about their rates, but word on the street is that pay is $300 to $700 per month for experts writing six to 10 articles per month. They are always open for a wide variety of niche topics.
The Masters Review Accepts fiction and narrative non-fiction works of up to 5,000 words from new writers. They are highly selective but pay at a rate of $.10 per word ($200 max).
Writers Weekly Featured articles that help people make money writing. They pay $60 for a 600 word article.
oysters.com A sister site of TripAdvisor. The site provides hotel reviews and travel advice. They are looking for experienced writers with a love of travel. They pay $50 per blog post.
Dollar stretcher A website and magazine that focuses on all aspects of frugal living. Companies pay for articles to appear in their print editions and may not require author links for some guest posts. They are interested in articles up to 800 words.
noji Offers consumer guides on product and company reviews. Their writers are paid monthly by PayPal at an average rate of $.08 to $.30 per word. They are looking for writers that have a portfolio.
cracked Allegedly pays $100 for your first accepted article and they have no professional requirements. You just have to be funny, smart and creative. It is a highly visible site. You can get some good exposure here!
The Escapist publishes content related to video games, comics, movies, science and technology. They no longer offer a flat fee but you will be able to accept or decline their offer before publication.
Consumer research Another site that offers a buyer’s guide. Writers follow a template, research popular products, and provide unbiased feedback. The pay is phenomenal, but they are very selective in their hiring. You will probably have to go through several steps in the recruitment process.
