Curated Reviews – Get paid to work on online recommending gear

Last month, I started working with home job leads for a site called Curated. This company advertises that they will pay experts to work online, recommending products and gear to people who need a recommendation before buying.

In this curated review, I’ll go into more detail about who they’re hiring, schedules, earning potential, and more.

There are many sites that hire experts to work at home that have been around for a long time. Curated is fairly new, so only time will tell if it’s profitable for people.

Overall, there isn’t much information online about Curated yet since they seem to be a new company, so please comment below if you know of anything I failed to mention.

Curated Reviews – Get paid to recommend products

What exactly is being curated?

Curated is a free service that people can use when they want recommendations for products provided by experts

Let’s say you’re going to be a new mom and you want to know what would be the best car seat to buy. Maybe you don’t have many mom friends who can help you, or you don’t have any mom friends who have had a baby in the last few years who can recommend new products.

This is where curated comes in They’ll connect you with someone who can tell you — based on personal experience and knowledge — what you should look for in a car seat and what they recommend for you. You can actually chat with this person and explain what you need before you make your purchase.

It’s a lot like using a personal shopper!

Baby supplies are just one example. You can connect with experts in all kinds of categories including golf, coffee, camping, skiing, tennis, etc.

What do you do as a curated expert?

If you’re hired to work as an expert for Curated, you work from home, helping people find products and making recommendations they’re looking for.

You will primarily interact with people via text chat, email, and video chat.

During a customer interaction, you will (and this is taken from the curated website):

  • Send them a list of personalized recommendations
  • Help them identify and define project or product research opportunities
  • price and product comparison; Or if they work on a project, compare project proposals
  • Help them get the best deals
  • Give insider tips

What are the working requirements for Curated?

You really need to be an expert in the department you are applying for. Curated not only requires extensive knowledge of the categories you’re interested in, but also past customer service experience and professional credentials.

Curated tests, screens, and educates all their experts before allowing them to chat with customers.

What are the computer requirements for Curated to work?

Curated only says that you need computer access and WiFi to do the work. It doesn’t seem to work on a smartphone.

How about salary and schedule with Curated?

Curated on their website, you can work as many hours as your schedule allows, but they commit you to work at least 10 hours per week, and the most successful experts work between 15 and 25 hours per week.

As far as payment is concerned, Curated is a free service for subscribers, but you will get commission if the person you are chatting with buys the product you recommend. It says it’s a fixed commission percentage and doesn’t specify exactly how much.

Customers you chat with are also encouraged to tip the experts they help, and if you get a tip, you get to keep 100% of it!

According to curated websites, 80% of customers will leave a tip.

What do others say about working for Curated?

As I mentioned above, this is a new opportunity, so there isn’t much feedback yet. I found something Reviews posted on Glassdoor That you are free to read through.

If you don’t want to browse there, the complaints are about what you’d expect. This is a commission-only job, so you won’t earn anything unless someone buys one of your recommendations and you get a tip.

The positives are what you find with most work-at-home opportunities — schedule flexibility and work/life balance.

My thinking is that this is a startup, and we’ll see how it goes for workers over time.

If you’re a real expert on something and think it’s something you’d enjoy doing, I see no harm in applying as long as you realize it can’t replace your day job, at least not right now.
