Today we are going to talk about side gigs. First, what am I defining as a “side gig”? While many homework jobs can be considered side gigs, this list is going to cover the variety of things you can do. In addition to Your regular work at home or outside the home is for real extra money – not a little change here and there.

That said, many of these side gigs are lucrative enough either by themselves or combined with other similar opportunities to become your full-time income.

But before you quit your day job to do any of them, I’d definitely recommend testing the waters first. Just consider the extra money and see how it goes!

Side gigs cover a ton of different categories, so we have a lot to cover here. Note that most of these are offline opportunities, but you’ll likely need a smartphone and in some cases a computer to be able to sign up and receive work.

Now that we’re all more connected through smartphones and social media, it’s much easier to create opportunities like the ones below in this day and age!

The ultimate list of side gigs

Personal shopping

There are all kinds of companies that need personal shoppers. This means delivering everything from groceries, fast food, restaurant food and retail items to their clients who either can’t or don’t want to go out and get paid for it (plus tips).

Ride sharing

You are probably very familiar with ride sharing apps and have probably used them But if not, it’s basically just downloading an app to find a ride when you need it. You can work on your own time for any of the companies below, giving rides to those who request them in your area.

car sharing

This is different from ride sharing. Instead of giving people a ride, you’re actually allowing people to use your car when you’re not driving it. This is a great way for your car to earn you money when it’s not being used!

rent your house

If you live in a place where people are on vacation, you can earn extra money by letting people stay at your home. I’m sure you’ve heard of the first option on my list (Airbnb), but there are other similar companies that will let you list your home and set your own rates.

Rent everything else

In addition to your car and your home (the options listed above), you can pay to rent out everything else you own that might be of value to others. such as…

  • Neighbors – Rent a parking spot of your choice, or a storage space you own.
  • Airgarage– Another set that allows you to rent your parking.
  • Pavement– List your parking space for rent.
  • Splasher– Rent your space for events.
  • Arvishare– Earn money by renting out your RV.
  • Campanda– Another site that allows you to list your RV for rent.
  • Sparetoolz – Power tool rental
  • shop in my house– List your storage space.
  • The botsetter– List your boat for rent.
  • Styleland– Rent your clothes.

pet sitting

While you can certainly strike out on your own and start a pet-sitting business, finding clients can be a little easier if you associate yourself with a well-known directory that lists your services. Although these services charge a commission, you can find clients faster and get yourself more booked.

Care for seniors and children

In addition to pet sitting, you can earn extra money by listing with popular sites and apps for your senior and child care services. Below are some more well-known, reputable options.

  • Care.com– Also listed above for pet sitting. You can also apply for childcare and senior care.
  • respect– Senior care.
  • Sitter City– Also listed above for pet sitting. You can also apply for childcare services
  • U-seat – For college students to find babysitting gigs.
  • Urbansitter– Childcare.
  • the bubble– Childcare.
  • Babysits– Childcare.

direct sales

Although there is an investment to start selling directly, many people do it in their spare time because it is very flexible. You don’t need to quit your day job to sell products from the well-known companies below.

Sell your stuff

We’ve talked extensively about selling your stuff on Real Ways to Earn. It’s the ultimate side gig because it’s flexible, you can make good money, and some people are actually able to turn it into a business. When you run out of things to sell, you can start “flipping” purchases for profit.

Photography

If you are good at photography, you can earn side money by selling your photos and listing your services. Below are some more reputable sites for doing these things:

Offer moving services

If you are able to lift heavy furniture and boxes, your services are needed! And I can speak from experience since we moved last year and had a hard time finding a moving company that wasn’t booked months out to take us on a spur of the moment move.

Mystery shopping

You can earn money by accepting mystery shopping companies in your local area from reputable companies that need their services

Note that while there are plenty of mystery shopping scams out there (some scammers will send you fake checks that say they’re from real mystery shopping companies — giving these companies an undeserved bad name), the companies below are the real deal.

Offers repair, cleaning and home maintenance services

If you’re handy, there are plenty of people out there who need help with things they can’t fix on their own. Some people need home repairs, car repairs or even computer repairs. Sign up with the following sites to list your services and get side jobs

  • Angi Services – Offer handyman services.
  • all good – Repair and maintenance services.
  • neat– Household.
  • Halotech– In-home tech support gigs.
  • TaskEasy– Lawn care, house keeping and more.
  • taskrabbit– An app to offer your services for almost anything.

Misc

These opportunities are side gigs, but don’t fit neatly into any of the categories above.

  • WeGoLook– Pay to “see” things for those who aren’t close enough. See the cars people are interested in buying, houses they are interested in buying/renting and then report your findings to them
  • JMI Report – Field visit.
  • Glam Squad– Providing makeup and beauty services at home.
  • Amazon Flex– Providing Amazon packages for Amazon.
  • Field Agent– Complete small tasks that come through your smartphone.
  • Gigwalk – Same as Field Agent listed above. Complete in-store tasks from your smartphone.
