12 Companies That Will Pay You Cash for Website Testing

In recent years, website and software designers have begun to rely on freelancers to do a lot of their website testing, and several companies have helped them fill that need. These companies usually look for common people without any special training and the job is fairly simple.

Some companies in this category focus primarily on bug testing, but most are more interested in getting feedback from regular users about the quality of various interface designs.

The task usually involves going through a website or trying a piece of software while providing real time feedback about your experience. Later you may have to answer a questionnaire.

Remember this isn’t something to do for a full-time job, it’s just for extra money.

Some services pay quite well in terms of the level of compensation compared to the time you spend on a given task, but since most tests take about 20 minutes to perform, it still doesn’t add up to the full amount.

A good strategy is to sign up with several services simultaneously to maximize your testing opportunities. It’s not uncommon for companies to offer four to eight jobs in a given month, and that can add up if you work enough.

This company uses software to record your mouse cursor movements on your computer screen while recording your voice through the microphone. They pay $10 per website test, but they also offer tests for mobile devices and will pay up to $15 for those. Payment is through PayPal.

To perform website testing for IntelliZoom, you need a desktop, tablet, or smartphone, a reliable connection to Wi-Fi, a quiet location, and the ability to download UserZoom’s eCertified testing software.

Pay will vary between $5 and $10 per study for 10-20 minutes of your time. Payment can take up to 21 days to receive, paid through PayPal.

3 – Testbird

As a “Testbird”, you’ll earn money testing websites and apps for software bugs in your spare time to improve their usability. You can work from anywhere, but they pay in euros because they are not a US based company. You can still use payment in your local currency.

4 – Beta testing

BetaTesting, formerly known as “ErliBird”, allows their users to test new products and provide feedback on those products as well as apps and websites. You will earn $10 to $20 for completing most tests. Payments are made within seven days of exam approval via PayPal.

5 – Userlytics

The tasks you’ll need to perform vary greatly, including everything from browsing a website without a specific goal in mind to comparing multiple sites.

During each test, you are expected to speak very freely and describe everything about the experience you are having with as little embarrassment as possible. Payment is via PayPal, and is usually $10 per exam, but some difficult exams pay better.

6 – PlaytestCloud

This is a bonus mention! PlaytestCloud pays you to play mobile and browser-based games. Like the sites listed above, you are asked to speak your thoughts out loud as you play so game developers can hear and benefit from your feedback to make their games better and better.

The test pays $9 for 15 to 30 minutes of your time.

7 – Register

Registering lets you take quick tests to help make the web a better place for everyone Help companies decide which logo is best, clean up content or complete tasks on a web site or app to make sure the interaction is meaningful.

This organization is primarily involved in beta and alpha testing of new software. You will be looking for bugs and reporting them.

The pay is potentially quite good compared to other jobs in this category—some people claim to earn more than $1,000 a month—but you’ll need some level of technical knowledge if you want to move into that range.

They rank their testers based on performance standards, and those with higher ranks get better pay and better job opportunities.

Another software testing company focuses almost exclusively on bug finding.

Most jobs pay if you manage to find a bug that hasn’t already been found by another user, and this practice introduces a competitive element where workers race to see which bugs they can find. Salary varies significantly from job to job.

Get paid to test Intuit’s software. They claim to pay $100 per hour for your feedback on TurboTax, QuickBooks and their ProConnect products such as ProSeries, Lacerte, etc.

The company monitors your computer screen with screencast software to see what you’re doing with your mouse.

Meanwhile, you follow their instructions and describe your experience out loud into a microphone or headset. Later you will have to answer a questionnaire.
