1. Work From Home

16 work at home overnight jobs to apply for today

I’ve had a lot of people ask me recently about work from home phone jobs where night shifts are possible. For some of you this is a big deal because working the middle of the night or late shift may be the only work from home option (at least for phone work) due to the kids waking up during the day, you work during the day, etc.

I’ll be honest that what I’ve found to offer overnight isn’t much, but I thought it might be a good idea to get a list together regardless and start adding to it every time I see something that fits the bill. I have included a few that are offered during the evening.

So far, the list is fairly short. Some of these can be part-time work from home while others are full-time.

Work at home is overnight work

LiveOps

This is a company that offers very flexible schedules, and many people who are new to working from home over the phone start here.

It’s possible to schedule yourself in as little as 30 minutes and find time in the middle of the night since you’re much more in control of your own schedule. However, one reader told us that they often have contractions between 9 am and 9 pm.

However, those who have worked for Live Ops often complain about low call volume. With LiveOps, you only get paid when you call, so low call volume can be a big problem. This is an independent contractor position, US only.

Alorica

Like LiveOps, Alorica lets you set your own hours so it’s possible for them to work in the middle of the night. If you can’t get the overnight hours, you’ll still often be able to get the evening shift.

The amount you earn with Alorica depends on which client you handle calls for. Some per minute, some per call, and some per hour.

You will always be guaranteed whatever the minimum wage is in your state. This is an advantage as some clients only pay per minute of talktime.

As I mentioned above with LiveOps, low call volume can really hurt your earnings in that area, so it’s nice that Alorica will at least guarantee you minimum wage no matter what. Also, this company hires you as an employee, not an independent contractor.

Alorica only employs agents in the United States and may be limited to certain states.

NexRep

NexRep is a work-at-home call center that operates 24/7, so overnight work is possible here. You must work at least 15 hours per week and you cannot work less than 2 hours at a time.

Although overnight hours may not always be an option, you will usually be able to get an evening shift. A reader told us that they usually have contractions between 9am and 9pm

If you make inbound calls, the pay will likely be commission or per minute of talktime. I’ve read that outbound positions are also commission only, but can also have a base pay.

You work for NexRep as an independent contractor, not an employee.

They only hire those who are in the US.

you pull

Occasionally U-Haul will have a job posted from a home emergency roadside assistance location, and it has midnight hours available. U-Haul offers emergency roadside service 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

It *may* require you to work at least some time at their contact center in Phoenix, AZ, or possibly train there before working at home. I’ve found conflicting information on this, so if any of you know, I’d appreciate some clarification.

Note that jobs are not always posted. U-Haul regularly has other jobs from home open, but does not offer these overnight hours.

This is a US employee only position, and current listings require you to be bilingual Spanish/English. However, keep tabs on their openings because sometimes they list this position unnecessarily.

Transcom

Someone left a comment below noting that Cloud 10/Transcom has had some tech support projects in the past with potential for overnight hours. This is a company that hires you as an employee and pays you hourly (starting at about $17 an hour).

Once your schedule is settled, it’s pretty much set, so it’s best if you can start with overnight hours. Of course, that may not be possible.

Ginger.io

This is a company that hires people with counseling/therapy experience and certifications to communicate mostly via text with those who need these services. Remember this is not a suicide or crisis hotline.

Since Ginger.io operates 24/7, you may be able to schedule it to work in the evening or overnight.

Your salary will vary depending on the specific job you’re doing, but in most cases you should be making more than $15 an hour.
