i amn this post: One of my new favorite ways to make money in college is with a website studysoup. Do you know about it? Let’s take a closer look… what you might like to see!

When you are a student, you are often faced with a difficult question, “How can I make money while in college?” Many of these jobs pay very little, require a lot of effort, and are not at all helpful or satisfying.

As more and more Internet-based startups arrive, however, times are changing. Now it’s easier than ever to make money online as a college student without getting involved in any sketchy or potentially “cheating” territory.

What is StudySoup?

StudySoup is a peer-to-peer learning platform that compiles class notes into a master database that students can search and download as they prepare for exams.

Here’s how it works: When you’re in a course and you need some help with the material, or you’ve had to miss class due to illness or travel, you can visit StudySoup to see if anyone in your class has class notes or study guides. Posted by

When you find what you’re looking for, you pay a small fee and download the materials. You get a custom study guide designed specifically for your class, and in some cases, even the exact class that one of your classmates took notes on while you were absent (or just missing).

StudySoup has class notes available at over 300 colleges and universities, and many of these schools already have thousands of documents uploaded so you can pass your classes.

Here’s something else cool: In addition to class notes and test study guides, there are study materials for major standardized tests like the MCAT.

What materials do they want?

What you get on StudySoup is a huge selection of class notes and study guides put together by elite notetakers (which is what you need to be if you want to make real money on StudySoup). There are also some flashcards available, which are very helpful in certain topics.

These are actual class notes taken during lectures and posted on StudySoup, and actual study guides your classmate(s) put together to prepare for the exam. This is not a place where you can find test copies, get your homework done, or write a paper for you.

Right now StudySoup only posts notes and study guides for undergraduate and graduate courses where 50 or more people are enrolled in the course. If you’re on a great course, you’re in luck! Note that each course may have multiple classes, so even if your particular class is small, it may contain StudySoup study materials.

You’ll also be able to find study guides for major standardized tests like the MCAT, which can be a very helpful and more cost-effective way to prepare for such tests.

Regardless of what you’re uploading, your notes must be readable, written by you (so no copy guides and handouts written by the professor), and thorough enough to be helpful.

Who Can Be an Elite Notetaker?

Anyone enrolled in a course that has 50 or more students, or anyone preparing for the Grad School Entrance Test (MCAT) can become an Elite Notetaker. Elite notetakers must go through a (free) application process, which includes a training session. From there, you can upload your notes and start earning money.

You don’t necessarily have to have the best handwriting or the most detailed notes. If your notes help you study, they might help someone else study too – so it’s worth a shot to upload them. Type them in if you want to perform better in the marketplace (not to mention have a firmer grasp of the material yourself!).

Once you are approved as an Elite Notetaker, you can start uploading your class notes (one set of notes per class per week) and study guides. Typed content will probably work better on the market, but you can upload your handwritten notes if you want.

How much money can you make?

Elite Notators can upload materials for anywhere from 1 to 3 classes per semester. You can make a small amount just for uploading your class notes, but most of what you pay will come from how well you share the notes.

According to StudySoup, their Elite Notetakers typically earn between $300 and $500 per course, while top performers earn as much as $2300 a semester.

The payment schedule is a little different from other remote jobs. It is definitely not a regular payment. Payouts are made via PayPal or direct deposit, and once you reach a minimum threshold of $50, you can cash out whenever you want. All your payments are made through Stripe, which means your financial information is secure.

You can upload class notes once a week for 10 weeks and each class note document you upload will earn you the equivalent of $5. It’s an easy way to bring in a little bit of money for very little work.

The real money is in the exam study guides, though, and you must create a study guide for each exam (up to 3). They should be uploaded at least 4 days before the exam and then shared with your classmates by email or using StudySoup’s sharing tool. you can Check out some solid guide samples here Get an idea of what works well.

There is also a referral program that will pay you and your referrals $5 each time your referral signs up, attends an Elite NoteTaker training session, and uploads a set of notes.

Also, you may be eligible for an end-of-semester bonus on top of your base salary. Excellent!

A few things to note: The site seems to be quite popular among students. However, some recent changes in the payment formula have led to complaints of declining returns and inconsistent payment practices. Be sure to check the contract for your school before you drop off your notes.

More than just making money

The neat thing about StudySoup is that if you take it seriously, you can not only turn it into an easy income stream, but it will also help you with your studies. As you get into the mindset of taking notes for other people to see and creating study guides for others to use, you’ll find yourself paying better attention and learning the material more deeply.
