4 Work-from-home opportunities now open for fiction writers

Are you a fiction writer, or are you interested in getting paid to write fiction in addition to self-publishing? If so, I have some remote job opportunities open right now that you might want to check out.

The jobs listed below are quite different from each other and require different skill and experience levels. But if you enjoy writing fiction and want to find a way to earn money doing it — without waiting for your latest book to launch — this might interest you.

4 Work at Home Opportunities for Fiction Writers

1 – GrowV Edu Corp

GrowV Edu Corp is currently looking for writers to write humorous adventure fiction for children. This is for educational digital content for mobile devices that they create for children.

According to the job description, this is a part-time, contract role. You must provide a writing portfolio and they prefer at least two years of experience creating educational content for children.

The job listing says they are paying $300 for each job.

2 – Kubikwar

CubicWare is looking for a narrative writer who specializes in writing for a visual medium such as television, comic books, animation, film, etc.

This is a freelance role available to candidates in the US, and requires 40 hours of work per week.

They require that you have 5+ years of experience in a creative writing role in a production house, gaming company, consultancy or similar environment

3 – Pixelberry Studio

Pixelberry Studios is currently looking for experienced writers to work on contract, providing content for their hit mobile games.

Pay rates are not listed but are said to be competitive. You will get your salary on delivery of assigned chapters (each chapter with around 5000 words).

4 – HotGhostWriter

HotGhostWriter has an ongoing need for freelance ghostwriters to complete books for their many clients. This is a full-time, paid freelance writing job.

Paid up to $20 per 1,000 words listed. So for most of you, this will be supplemental income.

You must be a native English speaker living in the US, UK, Canada or Australia.

1 – Upwork

I’m always seeing job postings on Upwork for fiction writers and ghostwriters for various projects. Note that with this site, you need to create a profile and bid on projects to win them for work in most cases.

2 – Indeed

I actually searched to find the job listed above. If you really want to check for fiction writing jobs every day — and I recommend doing so — just use the keywords “fiction writer” or “fiction writer” and see what comes up in the search.

3 – Flex Jobs

FlexJobs is a great resource for many types of remote and flexible work, and you’ll often find fiction/creative writing jobs posted there.

Although there is a monthly fee to have access to their list, you never have to worry about scams, ads or other junk. It is very easy to browse.
